"The Hilton" and "Possum Villa"

The Little Styx River Cabins are situated adjacent to the World Heritage Listed New England National Park and offer rustic accommodation in the heart of New England's adventure wilderness. Once quarters for the old Point Lookout timber mill, the remaining cabins reflect some of the history of the rugged timbered ranges. Nestled beside the hurrying headwaters of the Little Styx River, the cabins are an ideal base from which to fish and walk the remote gorges or Tablelands forests.

Little Styx River Cabins can each sleep up to 10 visitors. Hot showers and wood heating provide for a comfortable and relaxing stay in some of Australia's most picturesque high country.

Fishing
The Styx River, although only small, was once described as Australia's most picturesque trout stream. It plunges through remote canyons, shaded by towering snowgums./ The cabins provide an excellent base from which to search the wilder gorges for the elusive trout, characterised by their fighting qualities and size. Guided fishing trips can be readily organised for visitors to the cabins.
Spin/Fly Fishing is permitted down stream of the Little Styx River. Worm fishing is not permitted. It is strongly advised that occupants seek permission to fish other rivers in the area, and some rivers will be signposted if fishing is not permitted.

Walking Tracks
Situated only a kilometre south of the New England National Park, the cabins are handy to over 20 kms of graded walking tracks through splendid rainforest and sweeping vistas of the eastern escarpment.

Other Activities Available
The cabins are situated within an hour's drive of 5 magnificent National Parks, handy to the L.P.Dutton Trout Hatchery and hundreds of kilometres of remote State Forest, you can be assured of enjoying many natural attractions.
Each cabin contains a collection of track notes, a guide to fishing and recommended 4WD trips for clients to persue at leisure.

Things to Bring
Situated at nearly 5,000 feet above sea level, the cabins can be subject to all the variances of mountain weather. Consequently visitors should be sure to pack adequate warm clothing and wet weather gear. During winter months ensure that anti-freeze is added to car radiators.
Guests are advised to bring all their camping gear including: gas lamps, gas burner (for quick cooking), fire starters (to light slow combustion stove and heater), axe, torch, crockery and cutlery, towels, tea towels, sleeping bags and pillows, esky (for the summer months). We discourage the use of candles as a potential fire hazard.
